How often do you rescape CA/SA tanks?

Just wondering how often everyone changes things around in their tanks once territories have been established and how it changes the dynamic in your tank.

I'm itching to change a few things around in my tanks (mainly to take decor out to allow better water flow) but I feel like this could be like playing with fire lol

I tend to change mine up with any restocking. The more fish i put in I'll take out some scaping to make more swimming room and vice versa. Type of scape depends on what sorts of fish of course.

My most recent rescape was a forced result of my 135s sump springing a leak and flooding--basically threw all the ohko stone into the 150 and all the lava rock became substrate in a 75.


So to answer your question concisely, probably twice a year each tank.

I agree with moving things around when adding new fish. My thought on that is it gives the other fish already in the tank something else to think about besides the new fish. But I also probably move decor, add or subtract things every 3-4 months. Couldn’t tell you if it’s good or bad but I’ve been doing that for years will no noticeable negative effects.

I don’t know why but I do it every time I clean, once a week usually.

I do a full strip down, clean and rearrange every year, usually during the Xmas holidays.
The fish seem confused for a few days once they go back in and the dominant fish always get the best spots in the new scape.
