I was just wondering how often everyone test theyr water params and what they test for. This thread only applies to freshwater.

I never test unless 1) I'm cycling a tank 2) fish look stressed 3) added more than fish to an already existing aquarium

I just do 50% h2o changes per week, it doesn't really allow waste to build up

Ditto.
i do more than 50% a week. :\

Once a year? lol

Unless it's a new tank, not unles I am experiencing a problem. I do better than 50% wc's every week.

Once a week...

You have no way to know whats happening with your water chemistry without a history to go on. By just doing water changes blindly your making a lot of assumptions about your tap water quality and consistancy.

With multipule tanks this becomes even more importiant. The...."fish are alive so the waters good"...guage is of no use at all to help diagnose potential problems.
