Hey Guys,

Fish keeper for 15+ years, just got my first Stingray (motoro 6 inch) a few days ago.
It is in a 240 gallon tank with a 10 inch arowana. I have been feeding him thawed out frozen krill (5 daily 3 in morning, 2 at night)

Have a couple questions.

Are Hikari Massivore pellets something he might take to?
Right now i have seen him eat silversides (at the fish store before i bought)
Ghost shrimp (in my tank ) and the Frozen thawed out Krill.
Any other cheap food options?

I want to get a middle swimmer in my tank. anyone have experience with Flagtail prochilotis (spelled wrong most likely) in a Ray tank? I have seen them together at the fish store i boughtmy fish (a big Leopoldi and huge flagtail) and they look like a good pair. Anyone ever try this combo?

He is active all day and almost all night and always looking for food. seems healthy, and i want to keep him that way. any advice appreciated.

thanks

tom

You may also want to try

Cut up nightcrawlers ( a little messy)
Hikari sinking carnivore (like massivore but smaller for smaller rays)
any other sinking pellet

You can also try raw uncooked shrimp from the grocery store, tilapia too. When they've had enough they'll usually quit eating so you should be able to judge by increasing the amount until he doesn't want to eat everything you feed, then cut back a bit.

How much was the Leopoldi going for?

Thanks for the Advice Guys. The name of the Fish store is AQUARIUM ADVENTURE in Glen Cove. Really Nice fish and well kept but not cheap. The food there is a rip so i only buy specimins there because they are all in good shape. LEOPOLDI IS $8,000!!!!! NO JOKE, Next time im there i will take a picture of the price. They also have a Shark for sale (not sure what kind) last time i asked i think the price was around $20k // :nilly:

P.S. My Motoro was normally $250 but they had a 40% off sale and i got him for $150. Good Deal? prob too much but he was hand fed and eats like a beast.

I wouldn't risk a flagtail with a ray. They are known to suck on other fish sometimes

It could work but it could also go badly

thanks for the Flagtail advice. I think i will wait it out then, I dont need nything sucking on my Rays Disk. I had to get rid of my common Pleco the first night! He jumped right on my Motoro like he was a buffet.

$8k is laughable (even if they let you apply the 40% off) :D

$150 is a bit steep for a motoro pup, people on here let 'em go for $75-$100, but in a couple months time you'll have spent more than that extra $50 on food so it's kinda a drop in the ocean. Anyway, having your first ray eating well is, as the ads say, priceless.
