I have a common pleco that is pretty big around 6-7". I got him from petco 4 days ago and it ate all the algae in my tank and two cucumber slices. How often should I be feeding it cucumbers? It already ate two slices and I don't want to be overfeeding it

I have mine in my tank with a 7" Oscar, a 6" JD, a 4" JD, and 5 Parrot Cichlids (4"s). I occasionally feed mine zuchini slices, or drop in an algae wafer. He is more than content just eating whatever he finds. The wafers he usually just ignores, but he attacks the zuchini like there is no tomorrow.

You can vary the diet a bit more too, cucumbers good, but there are other better things out there that isn't mainly water. Check the dietry thread.

I feed my 11 and 12 inch commons every day.
I rotate
shrimp pellets
Algea wafers
zucchini
cucumber
melon

etc...

to be honest, i never throw food in specifically for them. they eat scraps and algea and its been alive n fat for over 4 years
