How often should I do water changes. 1 blue gill with a 1in stringy worm looking object behind pectoral fin? I have 4 2in perch 1 1in bluegill 2 4in bluegill 1 8in pleco in a 55gal. What is a good diet for these guys, wont touch flakes. I usually do worms and minnows.

I wold dose the tank with an anti parasite med like cupramine or Jungle's Parasite clear tabs, the "thread" sounds like an adult nematode (similar to the guinnea worm that ifencts) people getting ready to exit the fish. They usually go through a multistage life cycle involvig insects so don't spread in tanks but where ther is one...
