How often to use feeder fish

Really depends on when you have a few mollies available. Feed him some when your population is getting a little high.

When my GF feels the need to feed our fish them which isn't very often since I make her quarantine them in a 10 gallon tank and see who lives for a few days in there. She went and picked up a few tonight actually.

I agree with Mo. Its very risky unless you're breeding your own feeders and even then I personally just wouldn't do it. I haven't given feeders to my fish for years.

I would have to agree. Feeders are EXTREMELY risky. I have a pair of pikes that are very very picky eaters. If I chose to feed them live fish they would eat them all day long. Instead of feeders though I feed live earthworms (that i raise myself), live meal worms, and frozen krill and I am thinking of starting a breeding setup for live crawfish. So there are many alternatives to feeder fish just do a little research on google and see all the stuff you could raise yourself that might provide more nutrition than feeder fish ( earthworms, black worms, wax worms or meal worms, crawfish) are just a few suggestions.

When you are culling your own fish you bred it's fine, Never use feeders from the LSF. I raise a lot of fish, if a fry doesn't look right, i.e. not good enough to sell it gets fed to something, When I import Crenicichla or Cichla, wild predatory fish won't eat prepared foods right away, I usually have some baby Amphilophus that can get them eating until I can switch the over. I prefer to feed everything pellets. Ken

I would say once a month. Feeders should only come from you, not LFS like Ken said. You don't really need to use feeders but some say it helps the mental health of the fish more than dietary requirements.
