how often yall replace fx5 sponges?

i have a used one and its sponges r brown...think i can use this sponge for another year? what if i boil it in hot water

but i do have a new fx5 and 3pack of those sponges coming in just incase i want to swap it out but i feel like itd be a waste of the used sponges n thought mayb re-use? any suggestions, thanks

You won't need to replace them for many more years. I have a old fluval 304 and I have the original sponges in that filter.
