I've been not as heavy into the fish keeping for about the last 5 years since moving. I just re-attained my 125 gallon aquarium and I plan to get that up and running in about a month or so after part of my basement is finished.

However onto the here and now. I have a 75 gallon that has been setup the entire time and running well. It currently is sitting at around 74.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

On the 75 there is a AC110, an Emperor 400 and a Rena XP 3.

I've just thoroughly cleaned this 55 gallon that was sitting around incredibly dirty, I used a razor blade to scrape the glass, then distilled white vinegar to rub all the gunk off. Then wiped it down again with a wet rag then a dry rag.

I plan to transfer about ~30-35 gallons of water out of the 75 gallon, then transfer the AC110 which should have a TON of beneficial bacteria on it as that filter hasn't been completely cleaned out for a rather long time. Then top off both aquariums again with tap water and condition both with Seachem Prime.

I as well plan to apply an emperor 400 to the 75gallon to prep and start seeding bacteria for the 125 setup when that is ready.

Using the seeded filter and water that should have some bacteria buildup as well as transferring a few tank ornaments into the 55, I'm assuming this should cycle VERY rapidly. The fish I plan to move to that tank are some south american cichlids and that will be their home until I get the 125 up and running. The 75 will be getting a fahaka puffer that I have already purchased. It will be going to the established tank as I know that they are more susceptible to water quality.

Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like you have everything figured out. Good luck!

Awesome thanks guys :)

This method has seemed to work for 2-3 big moves with fish in Tupperware tubs for 3-4 hours and resetting everything up including a stingray which is much more water quality sensitive. Crosses fingers! insta-cycle :)

Still give it a week or two, and do put some fish food in the tank inside a feeder cone to keep the BB colony going..

I just kinda went through the same thing. I had a well established tank that I sold off all my stock. Moved the tank and added my fish 3 days later. I kept my filter full off BB running in a feeder tank loaded with guppies & plattys and for an extra bonus I added a massivore pellet once a day. Im curious as well to see how fast things turn around.
