I ask this as I got some new barbs today, would like to screen for flukes. I have a QT tank available but was wondering if a double dosage of prazi in a bucket would kick all the flukes off the fish and ready for the DT tank?

I keep very healthy Tinfoils, Filamentosas, Denison & Tiger Barbs. Never dosed any of them with a preventative medication.
It's been my experience that Barbs in general are very hardy fish & don't easily fall prey to disease.
Unless there are visible symptoms of disease, maybe not a good idea to expose the new Barbs to meds.

I cannot address the issue of whether or not you need to use this med, However, dose as directed.

I have used Prazi twice in this year, most recently I used it in a 150 gal. holding my clown loaches and redline barbs. They have no apparent issues with the med so far. The other use I waited too long to dose it and and lost a number, but not all of the fish.

The dosing volume for this med is quite small. My 150 is an older style AllGlass tank holding more like 115 gals. after allowing for substrate, rockwork, wood and plants). The amount of Prazi that went in was one ounce from a measuring cup. That should give you an idea of how concentrated this med is. Please do not overdose it.

How long it takes varies from 5 -7 days and you should not dose it more than every 3 days. This is all in the directions on the bottle- just follow them and you will be fine.

Followed bottle and used QT tank, I had noticed them flashing which caused me to want to treat. I have read it takes 24 hours for it to knock the flukes off but that a second dose is needed to kill the eggs that hatch in 3-7 days. So it looks like it will be safe for me to move them to the display after being in prazi for 24 hours

IMO It works very quickly when ingested… mix it in everyones food for a few feedings to not worry, as preventative measures.

I would not move them from QT to a display tank in 24 hrs, but that's your call. As of right now it doesn't even sound like you are certain what form of ectoparasite you might be treating for? Various things can cause flashing in a fish. Some additional reading for you.

Good luck
