Allright guys all ya rays keepers out there. I have a question. Ive been meaning to keep rays for a while now. So i did a little read up on them and on how much of a comm fish they are. I stumbled upon two articles thats kinda worrying. One says it shreds an armatus apart. I mean seriously an armatus shred apart by a leo? thts wicked mean bros. Another one says it eats up its tank mate which is another ray. I mean damn are all rays like that shredding and eating tank mates. Can any of the rays keepers give their input on this matter.

Thanks guys,

David

In my experience each ray has its own individual personality. Rays will try to eat almost anything that can fit in their mouths. during feeding time they are the most aggressive i find. when i kept rays i would drop food in different parts of the tank, that way other fish had the opportunity to receive it without being, Top'd by the ray.

Thx bro for the info. So if rays are aggresive by nature, does keeping more of them spread the aggression better?

my ray never bothers anyone in the tank but she is a motoro

^^ so does that mean that different ray species have different temperament? wow never thought that rays can b this complicated. Ive always thought that rays are the gentle type that never bothers other fishes.

if their mating 3:1 females to males would be better then 1:1. lets put it that way. you would need a massive tank and some pretty outrageous filtration to accomplish that correctly.

Motoros and Leos tend to be the most aggressive out of all the potamotrygons

My rays aren'y agressive at all to other fish, the male beats on the female but it's kind of expected, he is a teenager after all.

not really that aggressive- ive kept some that were very peaceful

I think the best way for to find out is to get a pair myself. Thx guys for sharing ur experiences. gonna try to look for a good pair.
