I could get one and would like to know how i should style the tank? It should not have too much plants at all. Any suggestions?

40 gallon breeder with a sand substrate and maybe a few plants. It doesn't need to be that complicated.

My setup for my red is a 75 gal tank with sand.

Anyone keeping these fish with opinions on their temperament? I've heard from some that they're pretty active/aggressive and from others that they're logs

greediest eater alive. They are active and are aggresive to semi aggresive.

Thanks. Been tossing around the idea of buying one.

I currently keep a group of 4... 8" in a 150. I found that tey enjoy hanging out in tubes of PVC and other "caves" . I have it heavily planted with a few open areas. I found that they can be very shy when other large fish are added. I have tried large silver dollars, oscars, and some other cichlids . The addition of these fish seem keep them hidden. I have also added Giant Danios and they do well but get eaten once in a while. From what I have read these guys live in densly planted river banks. Here are pics of my set up...
