how should i cycle my tank

i wanna cycle my tank what do i need and how long would a red devil cichlid be able to live in a 10 gallon up to how many inches cause then i would try to get a bigger tank for it and if i cant selll it or give it away what do i need to cycle a tank im not sure if this is on the right forum but i would like it if you helped
 
I would only subject a red devil to a 10 gallon if it was 1-3" they are very active and pugnacious when healthy. It will eventually need a 125 gallon they grow to about 15" and don't take well to tank mates not chosen wisely.

I recommend a fish less cycle just follow the links at the top of this sub forum.
