I purchased a 200 gallon aquarium from a private seller this weekend. I jumped all over it because he only charged $200 for the entire set up. Soon after I purchased the tank, I found out that there was a leak in the aquarium. He said that it needed to be resealed and he just didn't have the time to do so. I didn't see this as a major issue, as resealing an aquarium is not the difficult. He informed me that he tried to reseal the tank before with no success. Come to find out that he removed a decent amount of silicone from the outside seal. How should I go about doing this reseal? I've had a couple of people tell me that I'm going to have to disassemble the entire tank reseal it. Some have told me that I will have to remove the entire back panel to do this reseal. Any suggestions or experience in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Welcome to MFK.
Many reseal threads here.
It's frameless, so out of my area. I know on a old plastic framed tank. All that is required is to remove the old "fillet" silicone. No need too get all of it in the glass on glass corner edges.
Some one will chine in. I paid $100 for a reef ready 75 that needed a reseal. Used up 1 1/2 tubes of ge silicone.
Tape every thing, rubbing alcohol and newspaper to clean off old silicone after razor blades.
A guitar string will cut out baffles. Tied between two wooded handles.

You could try resealing the inside edges. The outside silicone will do nothing. In the end though the only way to do it right is to disassemble and get all the old silicone off before you reassemble with new silicone. You need to use the right silicone as well for a tank that big.

I wouldn't bother with tearing the whole tank apart. As long as the panels are not separated I would just do a regular reseal. The silicone on the outside won't be doing anything, the silicone on the inside and between the panels is what matters. Do a regular reseal, make sure the glass us very clean before applying new silicone. When you think it's clean go over it one more time to make sure
