Hi all,

I'm adding an addition onto my house with a basement. I would like to setup a 180 - 210gal Saltwater. But I want to keep all the filters, skimmer, sump, heater, anything like that in the basement on a workbench. that way it's quieter up stairs and cleaner. Make it also easier to work on.

What's the best approach to this? The tank will be about 52in high. The location of the filters will be right below in the basement on a bench and the basement ceiling height is about 7ft.

Thanks for any photos & info.

Ron

Just drill holes in the floor for the plumbing and make sure you spec out your return pumps with enough head pressure to pump the water back upstairs.

I thought about doing this at my house but will end up using the mudroom behind the living room instead which is about 2 foot lower.

This is a view from the mudroom. The holes are drilled in the back of the stand so you can see I have a bit of a drop. This will work great for the wet/dry.

it will work fine if your pump has enough head presure. just keep in mind the pump won't be cheap and won't be cheap to run....

yup, buy a big ass pump. you got to pump water up to the tank

Thanks for all the info. Hopefuly I can find a pump that can be wired for 208v. That way I'll use less power.

That big Hammerhead pump is 350 Watts. I looked and our electric bills for the last seven years, and the 1403 Watts of our 300 gallon tank system running 24/7 is costing us about $20 - $30 a month. (2 pumps, 2 heaters, FX5, UV sterilizer)
