Hi everyone, first time poster as this is my first foray into keeping larger fish.

I'm currently setting up a 100 gallon tank for a tiger oscar. My concern is my tap water. It's extremely soft. 0GH 0KH PH6.8 and 6 to 8PPM TDS.

I currently keep a community tank and I add crushed coral to the substrate to keep my PH from dropping too low. It stays at 7.8PH

From what I read oscars need soft water, but is my water too soft? Should I add some sort of buffer, or maybe a bit of crushed coral?

Thanks in advance for any advice you guys might be able to share with me!

Welcome aboard
Many of us would like to have your ph for sensitive species like Oscars. 6.8 is fine for Oscars. Just stay on top of your weekly water changes to keep PH stable . No need for crushed coral.
