My chocolate cichlid used to always chase my Giant Gourami and bite his tail fin and generally dominate him. They get along fine almost all the time but the chocolate is a bit of a bully. today for the first time ever I witnessed the gourami beat the **** out of the chocolate and send him crying off into a cave to hide. honestly the chocolate deserved it...

has anyone else ever had this happen? a complete roll reversal?

My O did that to my devil and has been a bully ever since although my convict is not afraid of the O but is terrified of the devil

yeah its pretty common with cichlids I used to always have to seperate and sell to keep the balance good. doesnt seem to be too bad though, not like I am worried for the chocolates health, that fish is mean as hell

My obnoxious datnoid is now in the corner just because he tried bullying my new giant gourami. I have 2 albino 14" Oscars which had been scale-stripped by this menace of a datnoid. Easily became my most hated fish in my tank. He also does this to my 24" silver arowana and my super red severum. It's a silver fish thing, I guess. He tried the same on the giant gourami yesterday. The gourami was like "Are you tickling me?" After some time, the GG got annoyed and smashed him into the wall and bit him hard. Datnoid deserves it and my tank has never been more peaceful. My GG has served the very purpose I purchased it for: keeper of peace.

Yeah they make great peace keepers and its funny that they can take a lot of beatings but at the same time its pretty hard to actually injure them. they are definately tough fish. And so full of character, I would recommend them to anyone who has the room for them.

I wish my datnoid would get big enough to be a menace, he has grown an inch and a half in about 3-4 months. now I am seriously feeding him up with my delhezi. they are both the runts so now they have their own tank and get a lot of food.

My first GG made me hate this fish to the bone. How can something so personable and intelligent for a fish(almost like a dog) be such a bully? Even then, you cannot deny how graceful and beautiful they are. I tried once again and this time it is successful. Only a few days ago I realized that these fish are really formidable. While I am examining the scales, I found that they are very thick and tightly spaced. They have a very delicate side to them, still. Those long flowing pelvic fins. My catfish bit about an inch into one of my GG's fins the first day it came but it's all okay now.

My datnoid is about 14" and very tall. He is an Indo that has lived alone all his life so maybe that has contributed to such personality. He is active again as of today. No devilish activity, yet. I also have a senegal bichir that is about 16" and is very thick. He is very active during the early afternoons and early mornings. You'll see them in my Public albums here in MFK. Hope the best for all your fish and hope that we both have the peaceful communities we aspire our tanks to have!
