I remember back in the day, my college friends having Oscars and other predatory fish and they would throw in feeders all the time. Funny how times have changed. I now have no ambition to give my Oscar or any other of my fish feeders, hell, seems like every time I bring a fish home now it infects the whole tank and I have to spend a week dropping ich cure in it. I spend quite a bit of time in the LFS trying to learn about things and infallibly there's always people there to buy feeders and as I look into the feeder tank I see sickly looking fish, usually with white spots all over them and I want to ask these people what the hell they are thinking. Anyways, just a newbies rant.

he!! yeah i feel you i was at the pet store today getting filter pads and as i was talking to the owner bout when hes gonna get new stock he was bagging a guy some feeders and i looked in the bag half of em were dead and there was brown muck floating around i felt like asking the owner "what do you crap in the feeder tank or something?"

in most stores rescue it is damn near impossible to keep feeders alive because you have to buy them 250 to a bag and they are shipped in horrible conditions we do 50% water changes every day and treat with quick cure daily as well as fungus guard when needed and we still lose a lot of them just so someone can pay 15 cents for a goldfish...

It's not a bag on you friend, I just can't see the benefits of giving feeders to our fish other that a 3 second thrill of seeing them atack thier prey.
