Just wondering how should i do this since my tank leaked and had to remove ALL old silicone. Any methods you guys use to do it, or should i just lay the glass down and squeeze it in between? thanks in advance

Just put a thick bead of silicone on either side of the glass and clamp the pieces together. Make sure that you give a little bit a space for the silicone and do not squeeze it all out of the seam.

I really can't clamp it down because of the brace and there is a 1/4" gap between the glass panes for silicone so thats why i am asking. Thanks

Oh, so you took the silicone out without taking the trim off of the tank? I think I'm starting to understand. Just make sure that you put plenty of silicone on in and then push it through the seams to ensure that it is all the way through. I would rather waste a lot that not have enough and have to do it all over again.

Yeah ,make a mess! Just use a lot of silicon, then wipe off the extra. The very last step I run my finger along the inside edge and smooth the "bead". Ya gota work fast before it starts drying.

Thanks for the help, i will apply the silicone on Sunday.

finger it works well. Or just use a plastic spoon. It leaves a nice clean line if you have enough silicone not to create gaps or voids. With the spoon you can put a bit of pressure to it so it works its way into the gaps and seams pretty well.

Lay the silicone on the tank side and then lay the glass pane on top this will ensure that your silicone contacts were it counts and smooth the outside then let dry trim the excess inside and add silicone then smooth and let dry.

I love the spoon idea! It will keep the bead at a consistent thickness. Thanks for the tip!
