HOw to attach the pond liner?. I h

I just built a Stingray Pond and have it filled. I build a studded frame out of 2x4's and plywood to hold everything in. I have a 45mil Firestone Liner laid overtop. I am having a hard time figureing out the best way to mount and secure it.

I was thinking getting some 1x4 and just screwing down through the top? Is this a bad idea?

Staples and a top board should work fine. No need to get really fancy with liners.
