How to avoid a lungfish bite?

Hey y'all. I figure I might have to stick my hands in my lungfish's tank to do maintenance, but I heard wals can be bitey. So I wanted to know, is there any way to avoid getting bit?

Maybe keep a net in the opposite hand to keep it from getting too close?

Long handled equipment and you can add extension to the gravel vac.

A lot of these tricks work for many species, doing this will allow you to eventually pet your lungy and clean the tank without worries
