Hey guys,

I have a couple Northern Largemouth Bass and i want to breed them. In nature Bass will spawn only once a year , which is in spring. But in my tank there is no winter or spring. Water temperature 80-85 F degrees all year round and tanks are mostly artificially lighted(there are windows but the room is quite dark in daytime).

So i wonder if they will spawn in these conditions. Do they strictly need a water temperature increase or change in daylight length to spawn?

PS: My tanks are 120-200 gallons but i can put them in 500-1000 gal plastic pools if this is strictly what i will need for spawning.

By the way, i know some friends will ask questions about why i want to do it. I got them from a hatchery in the USA and brought to my country. I am the only one owning them in this country. This is why i need more fish in long term.

Thank you .

I wouldn't concider 80-85f coldwater. I have no idea about bass breeding but if they are in a 120-200 gallon tank they might not be mature enough. You can replicate the season change yourself, you might need a chiller. Raise the temperature and increase the photo period over a few weeks.
