How to breed a Gar?

Very hard to do in captivity, in most cases breeding is induced through the use of hormones, or done in large aquaculture facilities for food production.
Two things:
- Do you have a true gar (family Lepisosteidae) or a false gar?
- If you have a true gar, then you'll probably want to stop all discussion of breeding (let alone currently possessing) a gar since they are illegal to have in CA.
