Hi just wondered if u had any tips on how to breed my large pair of cutters cichlids. I bought them as a breeding pair with the male of 6 inches and the female of 4.5 inches. They are in quite a small tank of about 140 litres, the pH is rougly 6 and all other parameters are at zero.
Thanks for any sugestions and fingers crossed it works!!:goldfish::goldfish:

There isn't much you have to do to get them going Ali. They are usually prolific breeders. Even more so if they were allready a proven pair. Get the female in condition by feeding her well ao a varied diet and extra water changes should have them laying eggs in no time. The only problem I might see is the PH of your water might be a little too low. Cutteri seem to thrive in more nuetral to slightly alkaline water with a PH of 7.0-7.5. If there is nothing else in the tank it might be a good idea to put a target fish in the tank, this might strengthen the pair bond and get them going. I have a pair that I can't seem to stop spawning. Good luck with them they are amazing to watch when they spawn in a community environment.

Thanks for the help i added some bigger cichlids temporarily and that seems to have done the trick and they are breeding as i speak. They are even more stunning in breeding condition which i didnt think was possible!!:headbang2:nilly::nilly::naughty:
