how to care for tiny sunfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would treat them like any other fish, you might wanna put a sponge over your intake on your hob or canister just incase. My fry love to eat frozen blood worms and they might also even take flake.

Are they big enough to eat brine shrimp? Thats what I fed my sunfish fry before they were big enough to eat worms, minnows, ect...

crumbled pellets and live/frozen daphnia are what I used. my gills were that size when I got them. they won't stay that size for long.

ive been shredding up dryed blood worms and putting tiny pieces of algae wafer, i have them in a 2.5 gallon with a bubbler (air stone) cause every other tank has something that will eat them, the largest attacks all food the others are so small i can't tell what their doing.... i'll post pics later

I netted 5 1-2"ers over the weekend. Mine immediately took to eating crushed up flake foods and frozen bloodworms. The younger they are the easier it is to get them flake/pellet trained in my experience. It took a whole week to get my adults eating flakes and it will probably be another week before I can get them totally on to flake food.

my 3 inchers are weird, one only will eat blood worms the other cichlid pellets, strange fish hopefully they'll get over them selves one day
