So, it's been awhile but I'm finally back from dorming. I managed to pick up two Jack Dempseys that caught my eye but I'm not sure what their sex is. They're both still small and young but the traits seem to be pretty obvious. I've googled around a bit and one fits the category of being male (No blue spots on the lower half of the cheek and sharp pointy dorsal/anal fins. It's also the lighter one). The other is slightly larger, darker, and also has sharp pointy dorsal/anal fins. Here's where it gets weird, the larger one has blue spots all over it's face and most of it's lower cheek (which is the characteristic of females). Can anyone tell me what genders they are?

This is hard to tell. Both have characteristics onf male and female. Your gonna have to wait till they get bigger to really tell. But from what i can see id have to say that the dark one is female and the lighter one is a male (maybe a female though)

In the third pic, the left fish is a female and the fish on the right looks like a male. Female looks ready to mingle and flirt with other males. The male looks like he is being dominated by another fish.

2nd pic male. 1st pic, it's really hard to tell. First glance you would say female because of the spangling on the cheeks but there are other characteristics that would say male. I'd give the second one a bit of time to grow for a more accurate id.
