Hi,

My Lfs has a group of P.Weeksii that is just about to come out of quarantine. They are around 6-8". Majority of them are of course very faint pattern. Could anyone give me some advice on which one to choose out of the group? E.g. The one with strongest pattern? The biggest one? The one that's most active?

Thank you!!!

Weeksii can be a tricky one. One of the main problems I have with my Weeksii when they are small, is getting them to eat. So one of the biggest things I would look for is any of them that have large stomachs or seem to be the most full. I'm not sure how long they were in QT or what their treatment was, but usually the ones that eat first are pretty good eaters most of the time. Pattern wise, it really just depends on what you want. I'm not sure how faint they are, but usually you can tell which ones have wider stripes (which is the pattern characteristic I would choose first).

Thanks for advice! I will try choose the ones with wider patterns, that Lfs only feeds river shrimps so all the fish they sell tend to be skinny!

Cool opportunity. I've never seen a fish store containing more than one weeksii to choose from. I have two weeksii myself. Look for one with wide markings. Hopefully that one has a good girth. If eating is a concern. Ask the store to be presence during a feeding. You'll know which ones have a healthy appetite to choose from. Good luck.

Just to clarify when we say wide markings we are talking about each individual stripe/pattern is wide?

Very much agree with this. Best advice I could give you.....Buy more than one! Finding a group of weeksii for sale is like finding the Sasquatch in my area

Just spoke to the shop today, it will be staying in the quarantine tank for another few weeks until there is a spare tank on the shop floor. I can go buy them today but it will be really hard choosing as tank is dirty and no tank lights!!! But the guy said he can net a few into a bag at a time to have a close look. There is 10 to choose from apparently all wild caught....
