How to clean a wild piece of drift wood?

Hey guys! I wanted to get a piece of drift wood but then they are like 30 bucks for a small piece and like 60 for a large! Way too expensive for a piece of wood. So i went out and got a pretty nice piece of driftwood in the lake. How to i clean it? I heard you can boil it but for how long and stuff u need to do. I am not using chemcials. ! so ya.
