Hi guys. I recently noticed that my bichirs can't seem to be able to clear off the prawn I feed them and there's quite a large amount of leftover. Apparently, my pump isn't strong enough to suck up the MP and my dad clears them up by scooping them off with a net, scaring my bichirs on a daily basis, which could be a reason for their poor appetite. Can anyone here recommend any pump that's capable of sucking up the prawn or offer any solution to my problem. Thanks in advance.

Don't take offence but there shouldn't have leftover food-you sure you're not overfeeding them? Polys will feed util they full and then show no furhter interest in food offered. Either feed them until this happens or stop short of this. I feed my poly with the former a couple of times a week but its near full-grown for its type

Are the 'leftovers' edible parts or shell and hard pieces? I'd say just shell the prawn and cut it up into smaller pieces and feed less.

+1

If they finish off what is offered regularly and once and a while they do not then the only way to clear the tank is to scoop w/ a net. Food in the filter is no better than food left in the tank.

If they never finish the amount regularly offered then you are overfeeding them.
