Ok in My 55 gal i have my JD like 3-4" and some african cichlids from walmart and 2 firemouths. My tank is normally 78-80 degrees F, but now i went to feed them and they arent really active and my tank is reading 82-84 degrees and my room is hot too. I had my window open all day and it didn't help.

I was thinking of freezeing 2 bottles of water and them them float in my tank for a little. Do you think that would hurt at all? I just don't want to wake up and my JD be dead, because all the Jacks around here are so small and my guy is starting to grow :D

Sounds like a plan. Just monitor the temp. Or you can do a water change to cool the water.

as long as the temp doesnt drop too fast and put them into shock, they should be fine.

But that temp doesn't seem too high, but hey im not an expert.
I keep my tank at 82-84F constantly in my PBass tank

i dont think you should be worried about 84 degrees

Mid 80's is perfectly fine. You can easily keep most cichlid at up to 88. But to answer your question, use a fan. Works better than any other method except for a chiller. Turn off your light during the hottest time of the day and only turn them on at night. Good luck.
