i am using hangover filters for my 100G acrylic tank and one of the filters is to wide for the slot provided. all i need to do is cut a small notch out of the acrylic on the top of the tank so it fits so how do i do this?
and without draining the tank.

I never ever cut acrylic but If I had to. Ill probaly try a 33 teeth per inch blade and cut it with a hack saw, or if the notch u need is a very small amount try using a brand new file.

Please take into consideration I have NO EXPERIENCE with cutting or notching acrylic.

Good luck with that!!!

Use a router. I have opened up several slots on acrylic tanks. I just marked it with a sharpie marker and then just cut it away. Go slowly if you haven't used a router much.

prettymuch anything other than a razor blade works well... with the exception of grinders because "grinding" just melts acrylic insted of cutting it..

thank you everyone for the great help im gonna go at it with a dremel with a saw blade on it. appreciate the answers
