hi guys and gals..I'm new to this forum...I need all the help I can get!! ahaha.
I have 1 cabro I am trying to figure out sex, cichlid is about 1 1/2" purchased as juvie in January.
In the last week I've looked at other books, other sites, this is just so confusing. I have a 36g bowfront tank with 5 cichlids...I just purchased a 60g and cannot set it up yet, because I need to sell or give away my 36g.
I have 2 melanchromis johanni, (male), 1 labidochromis elec yellow I believe female, 1 kenyi apri I believe female, and just about everyone says I need to get more females, or get rid of johanni, bumble, because too agressive :(
so first if someone can help me determine sex of cabro that will help.
any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!;)

Males are larger and have blue markings while the females are smaller and have yellow markings. Males can take on the female coloring, so look at size as well as the anal fin. Males will have two to four clearly pronounced egg spots, females will have a rounded anal fin and only one or two egg spots.

Also, a good way to determine sex with africans in my opinion is by watching their behavior...males will generally be meaner and do a good amount of chasing, while females tend to be more laid back and not so aggressive

Thanks, I think Cabro is a female...notice (she) just watches everybody else, is smaller and doesn't bother anyone...i'll check on fin.;)

Thankfully I had one that was very easy to tell because he stayed solid black and beat up everything. he also had elongated fins. The females will get a more rounded anal fin than the males but sometimes it is so slightly rounded that it is still hard to tell. I found that the female Bumble bees like the Yellow tail Acie are also more stream lined or torpedo shaped than the males.
