OK pleco experts. How do I get my 15" common to start eating fresh foods. Currently he eats Hikari alge pellets. About a handful a night. Never seen him eat but I dump the lot into his log. And hes still alive all this time so hes got to eat em. Ive left cucumber in there on a fork on the bottom and changed it out every day with a new one. Did that for a week and he never touched it. So any Ideas?? please help I know that food is pretty good for him but I know he really needs fresh food. Hes in a 8'x2' round pond. Temp 80*F and he does have drift wood to munch on.

try letting what ever your feeding sit in the tank a few days to get soft..mine always like it soggy cuz they are lazy, or try blanching them first (dip them in boiling water till slightly wilted)

mine seem to like zucchini, and spinach some times peas as well.

I feed all my pleco's frozen french cut grean beans. just thaw them in a small container of aquarium water and dump them in, they sink right to the bottom.

Here is a pic of some 1.5 week old fry munchin the gb's.

Not all commons will eat fresh veggies, even more so late in the game. They really need to be feed them when they are young.
