Hey guys, just wanting some opinions on my filtration. I want to do this as cheap as I can, but I don't want to skimp. So, I currently have a 120 (60x18xforget the exact height) with a couple 5-7" jacks, 1 8" carpintes and 3 syno cats. This is being filtered by 2 rena xp4's and the water is crystal clear and they do a great job on filtration! Last night I got a 135 (72x18x24) Oceanic tank from a buddy of mine. The current stock is in my 75g filtered by an AC110. Stock will include 1 oscar, 2 Gt's and not sure what bottom dwellers yet. My first option I am thinking is to have 1 xp4 on each tank as bio filtration and use the AC110 I have (purchase another AC110) and run AC110 and xp4 on each tank. Second one I was thinking is just using 2 AC110's on the 135g and leave the 120 alone since its working great. What do you guys think?

I'm running 2 AC110s on my 150 gallon plus the fluval fx5. I'd go for more than just 2 ac110s on the 135. Can't go wrong with more filtration. A new ac110 and fx5 would run you about $260 on eBay

thanks for the suggestion, i dont feel as though i need almost 2000gph on my 135. the stock that is goin in the tank is only about 2" long, so i have time to upgrade later. i just dont want to take one of the rena's off the 120 since its working so good. but i didnt know if anyone else had a similar set up with tank size that used a canister for bio and the ac110 for more of a polishing filter. thats still950gph which will turn the 135 7x's per hour and turn the 120 almost 8x's an hour. maybe ill do that and add a koralia power head. can't beat the deal i foudn on pet mountain. 1050gph for i think $35. What about that for both tanks?

i use 2 ac110 and a 20g sump with a 1000gph pump on a 125

I think your idea of an XP4 and a AC 110 will do fine on both tanks. I would personally add 2 AC 110's on mine.

2 ac110s plus the xp4? i do 50% w/c twice a week, usually tues/sat, or thurs/sun

I wouldn't waste the extra money on the XP4. You get close to the same amount of actual flow from the XP3 so all your really getting is an extra baskets worth of volume.

Myself I would run a pair of AC110s and a XP3 on both the 120 and 135g tanks.
