How would you filter this tank? Obviously a Hang-on-back filter won't work so what are the other options? What kind of setup is this tank designed for? It is about 50 gallons

Pothos and a few large sponge filters, understock it.

stack a couple hydro 5 sponge filters on anac 70 powerhead then cycle ,you can then stock it like a normally filtered tank . just make sure to only clean 1 sponge at a time(maybe once every 2 weeks).

ok thanks for the response guys, i will probably go with the powerhead and sponge filter route. hopefully that will be good enough filtration.

If you are not into DIY sump filters, then I would suggest purchasing an internal filter..........And then adding a canister filter......THe Fluval series has an excellant internal filter line that ranges from $40-just above $100........Mixing this with a RENA XP3 canister filter will be perfect......The Xp3 is like the ols school FLUVAL canister filters, but cost a little less.........I have used the Fluval brand since the late 80's, I stand by the name..........But after owning a RENA Xp3, I would say RENA wins the cup if you do not have the extra $20-40........

If you dont plan on having an open top, you could rig up a sump type set up above the tank in the canopy.

I have a rena x3 as well. I am just wondering if the intake and return will fit over his wall with that extra rim. I honestly dont think it will unless he gets some PVC and makes new pipes.

I was thinking about putting my Flowerhorn in here. How are the Fluval U4 internal filters? Would it be sufficient enough for a Flowerhorn?
