How to find a lost bird

Okay so my friends love bird escaped and his wings arent clipped. and its like minus 10 here so we need to find a way to capture the bird. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We found the tree he was in and started calling to him and he eventually went to my friend.

I'm guessing the weather actually helped...If it was much warmer the tropical bird might have been more active and flown farther away...glad you got it back.
