I read that trout still bite in the winter but will be found in different places. any tips or baits that work well in winter (i prefer to use natural or live baits)?
The thing i have ready access too is worms and i have many different artificial lures. but i dont like artificial that much. Any other fish that bite in the winter?

Trout usually dont bite in murky water

ah winter trout one of the best times of the year which also means flooded, high, murky water. I fish with trout and salmon eggs with a bright colored float suchas a lil corkie. I use a drift fishing rig.

i love to winter fish trout on lakes here in mn...they are 3in to 4ft down from the ice so i sight fish them through a spearing hole....awsome!!! i use minnows, wax worms and NIGHT CRAWLERS! YES NIGHT CRAWLERS through the ICE....as for there idk but should be faster action in the winter there also...focus on the shallows and surface with slow presentations...gl

The fishing didnt do well at all, i stayed warm but I only managed to cast 4 times and used 2 worms, i was out there for hours. Its a very difficult place to fish. My line always got tangled on my reel. It was better than sitting home all day watching TV though. The part of the Rio Grande i live on doesnt have many trout, mostly bullhead cats and channel cats I wish I lived a little more south or a little more north on the rio.

EDIT:the water was a lot more clearer than usual. In the summer it is usually infested with golden algae so much you cant see an inch. Now theres just a little blue-green algae and I can see up to 2 feet. At least the Jemez Mountains has good trout fishing.
