How to fix leaking tank?

My 40g tank started leaking today ,luckily it was only half full and only a little water had gotten out but it had spread across the room.Really bummed out right now,had to tear down whole thing plants,sand,driftwood.I still can't figure out the source of the leak,any tips on how to reseal the tank? I would just go out and buy another tank but sadly ,I can't afford it right now.My poor fish is sitting in a little 15g tank stuffed with driftwood and plants I hope I get this sorted out soon.

if it is just a simple re seal, you need to cut out the inner silicone with a razor. Some people use acetone to clean the glass to make sure all the silicone is off the glass. All of the existing silicone needs to be off of the inner glass or else the new won’t adhere properly.

So after a long night of tearing down the tank I got into bed,I felt something wet at my feet my first thought was 'oy who wet me bloody bed' lol.Then it struck me the rain was pouring down like hell yesterday ,there was a leak in the ceiling! I don't go into my room frequently during the day so I must have not notied the water dripping from the wall (my bed is right next to said wall).My tank was on the floor and water from the ceiling that had got under the styrofoam made me think the tank was leaking.All that effort was in vain! and worst of all he's pissed because I wrecked his tank.

You would be better off with a leaking tank.
