i recently bought a fire eel from someone and luckily he is doing very well. (knock on wood) haha. he started eating out of my hand first day even though the previous owner never had fed him by hand. Anyway the only problem is that the eel is stuck on bloodworms. how do i get him on market shrimp?

ALSO: What kind of algae eater should i have with fire eels? i have plecos but i was told that they are not good to keep them together cuz the plecos eat the slime coat of the eel.
Thanks in advance everyone!

Plecos of the Panque line ime do fine w/ spineys in general. ( Royals are the most common and my personal choice. They do require driftwood in their tanks and supplimental feeding.) as for weaning your fire from bloodworms onto something else... what do you mean by "market shrimp"?... my spineys get a mix of frozen krill, bloodworms, and nightcrawlers in their diet. any single food alone is unhealthy. I would try frozen krill, and nightcrawlers. "Market Shrimp" should be FW prawns and not of the seafood variety often found, some people haven't had issues with this.. but the chemicals often used to preserve them are generally considered to be wary of at best. You can also try frozen silversides ect... but I haven't had much sucess personally with fish type foods.

My tyre track eats about anything market shrimp, blood worms, earth worms, even feeders check my vid out sometime go on YouTube type tyre track eel eating fish and you'll see wat happens to my half beak,;)
I noticed fire eels are more shy than tyre tracks as I kept Many fire eels they just don't satisfy you my 1st tyre track and woah!! It surprised me and I said to myself now that's an eel!
Well I guess I like fire eels for their color andTT eels for their aggression and personalty you just to be patient with your fish give it some time it only gets worse before it gets better, try not giving it BWS for a few days and only give it shrimp really good sizes though place it next to it and just watch in a few mins of he didn't eat it take it off if it looks like it's falling apart and try the next day no biggie
