Anyone have any good ideas on how to get my calabar pythons to eat f/t? Neither will take some hoppers. I am going to try some live Fuzzies in a bit. Thanks for any help.

You can try to "brain" one. It is nasty but can be effective. You can also place the snake and the FT mouse in a smaller container overnight.

Got any pics of the calabars?

Not currently. And I left a few hoppers in the tank but none were eaten. I can take some if you would like.
I will try braining in a day or so, I have to do it with my little kingsnake so its not a big deal anymore.

I have heard these snake tend to eat when in a cramp area with food like a little tunnel or a burrow of a rodent , u can try a live rat pup in a little pvc pipe and see what happens .

Now this I do remember. Try a Gerbil in a Brown bag... Don't know why but this is what my father had to do to jump start the one I had, After he got him eating the small gerbils every three weeks or so, we kept a gerbil as a pet and would toss the gerbil in a bag leave it in their for 10 minutes. Then take it out and put a mouse in the same bag with the snake.

After a while the snake took mice right in his cage.

Interesting, Would simulate the School Lunch size brown bag method.

You chose the wrong animal if you were looking for a consistant feeder......They won't take food untill they're acclimated, and when they do, it isn't going to be much........They like to eat tiny things compared to other Snakes, and they need complete 100% security before they do so........

I can personally testify to braining; and it really isn't all that gross. My baby tegu is big on mice but didn't really like baby rats, untill I brained one. Now he's all over them and doesn't need the braining anymore.

I know they eat small prey items. Like fuzzies, pinkies or hopper mice. I know about this species. I was just seeing if anybody had any ideas on how to get them to eat F/t. The brown bag idea seems good so I shall try that.
