Dad found some demasoni fry in his display tank, only thing is they're all hiding in the rocks and I don't want to tear up the rockwork
Any way I can try making a trap for them or something?
cut off top 1/4 of water bottle, and put upside down back inside water bottle. Tie it down to the bottom half. Place some food like flakes, then sink it near where the fry are hiding. Make sure other fish don't fit into the bottle and the lights above the tank are off when you put the water bottle in.
Easiest way is probably a length of hose and a 5gal bucket.
Start a siphon, use the hose to suck out the fry. Net fry from bucket, pour water back in tank, rinse repeat till all fry caught.

Somehow this never worked for me with any mooth brooder fry. They can easily swim against the water current created by the hose. Especially fish like demasoni that live in habitats with a lot of current and heavy waves.

along with that, I don't have a hose wide enough or long enough to suck them up without ripping them in half since they're a pretty decent size.
I had a bottle trap at hand from when I tried getting my c.compressiceps out of a temporary tank, so I put that in last night. Nothing yet, I may have put it too far.
