Are there different methods to get the allows of a oval/racetrack aquarium?

For an oval then, 1/2 the length x 1/2 width x 3.14 x height divide by 231 ( all measurements in inches)

get a empty 1g milk jug. And count how many times you have to add water till its full

May be a bad joke. LOL but when I was younger. I did just that. As a kid I once measured how many cups make a gallon. By scooping the water out with a milk kug and a measuring cup. LOL
