ok so i turned the temp up did a w/c and feed them lots
and there in a tank of there own with a cave sort of thing
what else can i do to entice them to have babies lol
Just have a male and female together around the same size they will do it on their own... I have had em lay eggs even when I didnt want them too, lol but if they start doing a shaky dance thing then they are about to do the dirty
I would say just patience is really it to be honest...
I waited MONTHS for mine to breed the first time... and then after that they seem to be quite keen. Two spawns in about a month.
I tried seperating but that didn't work, they just did it as soon as I moved them back to the main. One thing that seemed to instantly do it the first time was that I moved things around the tank and they found themselves a quiet corner and two days later there were eggs all over.
I have found you need to feed them high protein foods and try to keep people away from the tank (other than yourself). My dempseys don't like to breed now because I put their tank right in front of my front door so with all the action around the tank they wont breed but they are not stressed either. To get them to breed I feed mine blood worms and mysis shrimp on a daily basis. I also feed them a lot but a little at a time many times throughout the day. Good luck with your dempseys!
