How to get my Juruense off live?

I got my Juruense Cat last week and he hadn't eaten since. I contacted the seller and he says it was on live :cry: I've never had to get a fish off live since all of my fish were already off of it. How can I get him off?
 
How big is it right now? If it is small, feed it live and get some size on. Live blackworms, guppies. Once the fish looks real healthy and putting on size, starve it for a week and start introducing different frozen foods.
 
Oh also try feeding in the complete dark. No tank lights or room lights on. Catfish are nocturnal feeders. You may have some luck that way

He is 3" and the reason I don't want to feed him live is because of the risk. I don't want to risk killing him because I fed him some guppies.
