My dad wants his deck to be natural wood again. He painted the deck a year ago. We primed the wood first then painted it. I was wondering how to get rid of the paint. I thought about sanding it off, but it will take a long time.

Any suggestions?

sandblasting?

Yeah. Sandblasting is one of the safest ways.

Or tick off every living thing within three square miles and use some sort of acetone-based stripper and lots of protective equipment. Respirators, gloves, etc.

What about an electric belt sander? Or is that what's too slow for you?

Sandblasting is probably your best bet. You can try to get a strong power washer, but a lot of times it'll rip the wood apart and do more harm than good.

The electric belt sander was what i was talking about. The one my dad has is small so i know it will take long lol. I think i might tell him to buy a bigger one.

Pressure washing usually does the trick, and is probably the best bet to start with. Sand blasting is dirrrrrrrttyyyyyyy, and your neighbors will probably hate you for it. You'll need that pressure washer to go clean their houses from the dust and stuff that will collect on their place. :)

I used to work at in commercial tool rental. Get yourself a floor sander. Its like a giant palm sander, its easy to use and costs about $50 for 24hours. It should do the trick, plus its got dust bag too so not too much. If that mellow for you they also got drum floor sanders too,( kind of like a belt sander).
