so I set my 75 gallon up with just some floating plants and no fish yet. Next thing you know there's brown hair algae everywhere. How do I get rid of it? Flourish excel?

When I had this problem I pulled as much of the algae out by hand then treated the areas I couldn't get to with hydrogen peroxide and cut down on lighting. After a few weeks the algae went away and hasn't come back in many years. To me this is just part of setting up a new tank. Adding Flourish Excel in addition to this would probably be helpful.

When this happened to me, I took as much out, did a large water change, less light hours/intensity, and once the floating plants took over, the tank found balance and the algae stopped coming back.
