I found an LFS that has a Gymnothorax tile that a few are 6-8" but are in freshwater. What exactly would I need to do to get one acclimated to brackish and how long to do so safely? I have a 5 and 10 gal tank not in use and would one of these suffice long enough to acclimate and subsequently house him a brackish tank?

Someone mentioned using the drip method of acclimation. Has anyone ever heard of this? I was told should I get the little guy I could place him in a bucket with an air stone and add water from the brackish tank over a couple hours till the bucket contains 70-80% brackish then place him into the tank.

If I were to use the tank method it could take a while. I was told not to raise the salinity no more than .003 per week to avoid killing the bacteria.

I don't know if this helps and I know it is not the right way but when I rescued mine from the fresh water tank at the lfs he was not looking good and I put him directly into the brackish water and he made a quick turn around and is still doing fine.
