I keep my apartment pretty chilly, around mid 50s-mid 60s. I'm picking up some land crabs and need to heat a 20 gal long tank for them, I would like to be able to heat the whole tank without too much work.

On all of my fish tanks I have heaters where you can set the temp and it keeps the tank regulated itself..auto shuts off. I'm looking for something with the same concept, but for a terrarium.

On a side note, I seen a "mist" thing that you just put into a water dish at my local pet shop..Is that a good way of keeping humidity up?

Ahh awesome! Thank you..found rheostats online.

One question..I see ones where you can turn it "hotter..cooler". Are there any that you know of where you can set an exact temp?

You'll probably just have to get an accurate thermometer and adjust the hotter/colder dial until you get the temp you want.
As far as the mister thing you sit in a dish of water-is it an ultrasonic fogger? If so, it needs to be set up so that none of the crabs can touch it.

Im not a big fan of foggers as they can give you or the crabs an electric shock:WHOA: But anyways you wont need it because the heat from the pad and the humity from both the substrate and the water conteinar will keep the cage constantly moist. Zoomed heat pads are great and you can set them with a termostat, see how the temps go for 24 hours and chuse the temp you want:D
