The only way ( as happened to me ) is having a couple of them and pair forming. You know who the mail is by the grunting sound he makes, tottally audible. The other half of the pair will be the female.

Or you can go to Qian Hu farms website where the have a calculater to know your aro's gender but it is not fullproof,I think it has a 70% success rate

my Arowana made a loud vibrating noise when he was getting exited , I'v read only male fish do this, is this true?
