Sorry I am new to buying fish overseas. Has anybody here ever imported fish without using a transshipper and for personal use. I've read somewhere that you can or you can't. Anything would be helpful thanks.

No im not trying to import an asian arowana but I am trying to some flowerhorn. Ha ha thats funny I should probably change my name to flowerhornfreak since Im starting stare away from aros anyway, that was kinda not the comments I was expecting but that made my day ha ha lol! Sorry if I didn't make it very clear, has anyone here done the US wildlife and customs inspection without a import liscense just for personal use and not business. I've read somewhere that you can, Can anyone confirm?

Ask the hybrid section. I know those guys regularly buy fish from Asia and get them shipped to the US. Don't know how it works, none of my fish come from Asia. ;)

the simplest way is to fly to the country, buy fish, and check it in as luggage. i have done that twice. no paperwork is need.
the fish and wild life officer just looked it over to make sure there was nothing illegal.
don't forget to declare them as you cross the border.

In my case having the flowerhorn transhipped is gonna cost more than just having the flowerhorns picked up at the airport since these guys are big. Julie lives 2000 miles from me so overnight shipping might hurt. I just spoke with 2 different US wildfish inspecting agents. It is legal for a person that does not have a import licsense to recieve the fish legally if it is not over 8 fish than it is for personal use. Just have to pay inspection fee, small customs fee, 48 hour notice before arrival and a couple of forms. Just in my case its a little cheaper, more of hassle yes . Thanks for your replies.
