Hi, what do you guys do to keep fish from jump out of the back?

I have a large hole on one end where my filter output and inputs are located and wire that hook to my heater.

Apparently, my bichir jumped out but my brother saw it and saved its life.

I tried using mesh (for windows) but tape doesnt work because it gets soft from water

I used thin pieces of acrylic cut to size... over the entire back of my eel aquarium... they overlap the lid and rim... and they are held in place with velcro tape.. so i can take them off as I wish

You can drop the water level right down for first few months until the fish works out the tank boundaries. Its just trying to explore not kill itself when it climbs out atm.

I use the plastic mesh that you find at a craft store. Just cut it to size then use some nice strong tape and tape from one side of the tank to the other using a corner, because the tape won't stick to the plastic mesh stuff. You can even let water run through the plastic mesh, to make sure no one gets out.

At least thats what I use for my bichir tanks. GL!

Ahh I see..

@ fishdance... well, the fish will still jump out, like trying to catch food or something

I have the light that cover the hood so I cant put the mesh between..

The plexiglass might be a good idea but what will keep it from falling through? its a pretty big hole

I actually meant RIGHT down. Like about halfway (unless you have hang on filters) since its just till they know the limits of your tank. I keep and breed some bichir and they only escape on new tanks.

If your relying on covers alone, make sure they are fastened down as they can PUSH light weight covers enough to get past.
